yaaaaaaang
i've always wondered.what would I be if you were still my piano teacher?
yang lao shi. probably one of the persons whom I respect the most.
Elite Park Avenue. how i loved that road.
Mum would drive past your house and turn into our favourite little spot where we'd park the car. And i'd be hurriedly gathering my piano books- Czerny, Hanon, JS Bach, Burgmuller, Fur Elise, Sonatina Album. and that old yellow photocopied Russian piano guide.
Mum and i would cross the road to get to your house. We'd ring on your doorbell and usually your husband opened the door for us. Leo the dog would be there, bouncing and prancing and jumping around. That's probably why I decided to get myself a dog two years later.
The four-wheel drive would always be parked in the driveway. The house was kind of dark and quiet, and while waiting for you mum and I would watch those Chinese programs on tv with the dog licking me everywhere.
That flight of stairs. in all those years when I was your student, never once have I ascended those seemingly creepy flight of stairs. But i was always curious to find out what was up there.
The door near the living room creaks open. good afternoon, yang lao shi.
I don't know what, but i've always liked something about you. 'Cause you were sort of my distant relative, your husband was my grandma's cousin or something... Mum would say goodbye to me while I followed you into the piano studio. Then i'd fish out all my piano books and begin the LOOOOOOOONG lesson. i love your grand piano! it rawwwks :D
After exercising my fingers, it's time for theory lesson. but i'd rather not talk about it. HEH.
but what would you think of me now? it's been over four years since I last saw you... I always have this urge to visit you, but I can't bring myself to do so. I feel really sad that you're not my piano teacher anymore, you were really one of the greatest around here. But i MUST visit you one day. And i'm gonna show you that i HAVE improved over the course of four years. your effort has will never ever go to waste.
