baptismal...

okok... got up SUPER early just to go out for breakfast... but it tasted so good... yummy... gOOd news, mom told me the treadmill that we bought will be delivered to our place TOMOLO! yeah I can't wait to get started on my exercise. then we went to fetch my eldest aunt and uncle and then we fetched AGOGO. It's a cryin shame Kenneth wasnt able to go for the baptismal service. awwwww......
Today was a very special day coz euGenE and I were gonna get baptized... AND because it's Easter Sunday. and then shortly after we arrived at church EUGENE CAME with his GIRLFRIEND jolin or what... dunno the correct spelling to her name. ya and they were so loving and they were holding hands most of the time. Just as the service was about to commence eugene's mom came and BY THE WAY eugene's momma is my 2nd uncle's wife, which makes her my 2nd aunt... ok... then service and everything went about as normal, except for some things... Firstly, mom was invited to be a "guest speaker" at the little children's Sunday School so agogo and I had the sermon without mom... SO LONELY! just kidding. changes are good. hahahaha...
I think agogo and I were kind of restless during the sermon coz agogo kept digging into her bag and I kept fidgeting... out of nervousness... The moment the sermon ended agogo and I went to the toilet just so that we could catch a glimpse of mom teaching the children... hahaha... too bad I'd outgrown sunday sch long ago.
When we returned pastor was making announcements. BY THE WAY the pastor happens to be my 3rd uncle... I have SO MAAAANY relatives lohrz! oh then he began to talk about the baptismal service. He began by saying that the baptismal would be conducted at the beach in East Coast Park. Then he said so loudly: "... and the candidates who will be baptized are BROTHER EUGENE GAN AND SISTER VALERIE TEO... omg I had the fright of my life. SISTER???? ok, I'm NOT THAT OLD. maybe eugene is considered a Brother but I'd rather not be called SISTER... I sound very ah ma liddat! never mind.
Then two other new members gave their own testimonials and I was so nervous that I clutched agogo's hand so tightly. When the testimony time was done pastor called the two new members , eugene and I to stand in front of the congregation. Boy, although I was a high "I" for the disc workshop (means that I like to be on stage to get attention) I was still super nervous and eugene was standing beside me and he seemed so relaxed. Up there I was wondering how come eugene could be so relaxed. Well, I guess that's because more than half the church don't know him well at all... HOW SAD! for me, I am like so well-known in church so everyone keeps staring at me. And some of them didn't know that eugene and I were cousins.... hahahahahahahahaha....
So pastor asked if we had any testimony to share and we unanimously shook our heads.... of course, what do you expect? we weren't prepared at all! So pastor just asked the church if there was any objections to us getting baptized, and other stuff like that. Then we prayed, and I noticed that many people were clicking on their cameras, taking pictures of us... i am not camera shy but I don't like to have my picture taken, without my permission. I also felt kind of embarrassed because I was standing beside eugene and he is very short. I am almost as tall as him. hee hee hee... finally we were allowed to go back to our seats. HENG......
After that pastor briefed eugene and I in his office... So cute! pastor showed us how he was gonna dunk us into the water and the way he did it to eugene was SUPER DUPER HILARIOUS. My dad had to fetch so many people to the beach: my family, agogo, eugene, jolin, eugene's momma, my grandma, and my eldest aunt's family. THE RIDE WAS SO MuCH FUN!!!!
In the van, there wasnt much room left so eugene had to sit with agogo and I... Boy, we really drove him crazy. How were two giggling girls capable of amusing a guy 10 years older than us? er... you'll find out...
We showed eugene the photos of fang, leng and I dressed up like crazy people... and we showed him the picture of FANG in my grandma's oversized shirt and pants. then he laughed and laughed and he happened to see some weird pics of me in my RGS uniform! OH no! i was so embarrassed... and then we sang many stupid songs that involved kissing and mushy stuff. Then we giggled and giggled and laughed and laughed like mad. OH YES. THE BEST PART. We told eugene that he was a crab. Because in the Spongebob show, one of the characters is a money-minded, red crab named EUGENE H. KRABS. hahaha! he's Mr Krabs, the owner of The Krusty Krab. Come to think of it, that's my email address. Yay... and eugene was kind of amused and he said that agogo and I were very cute... and I think i almost died. hahahaha.... well he did go a little crazy.
When we got to the beach, eugene went to change while I got ready for to be baptized. Eugene and I took off our shoes and stood barefooted in the beach. the sand was fine and soft, but rather prickly. The view was wonderful and I could see dark, vague silhouttes of boats heading for batam or something... We sang a few songs, pastor did an introduction on baptismal services and we prayed. As we were singing, I noticed that eugene and I were actually playing with the sand. We were kicking the sand all around, and he was apparently nervous too. Eugene went into the water with pastor first. Pastor held him by the collar, then dunked him in backwards. It was a fast process but clearly eugene did not enjoy the taste of the seawater. he warned me that the water was really salty. thanks a lot... =) Pastor grabbed my hand and we waded into the water, further and further in. It seemed like a really long way from the shore and I was a little afraid. The water rose from knee-deep to slightly around my diaphragm. Then pastor tugged at my collar and SPLASH... I was in the water. There was water in my ears, in my mouth and in my nose. AAAAARGH! eugene was right, the water was saltier, perhaps even saltier than salt itself!
After that eugene and I went to change and dry off, had a bit of bee hoon and rice and it started raining. So agogo and I went to the van with the others and this time we had to sit with jolin. We didnt talk much, probably because I was exhausted and famished. Agogo and I went to my place for lunch. First I went to take a bath, then agogo and I watched White Chicks and had Fish and Chips and waffles for lunch. Yummy... AWWWWW then it was time for agogo to go homeeee....
It was so much fun today, mainly bcoz I MANAGED TO DRIVE EUGENE CRAZY!
